Pop-up sessions

During the sessions, freelance mums, dads and carers of pre-school children can use the coworking space, while their children are taken care of in the nearby Caboodle creche. The Caboodle crèche

Caroline Dorney from Caroline’s Crèches will be leading the Caboodle crèche. She has over 25 years of childcare experience and along with her staff, runs mobile crèches around Bristol for Bristol City Council, health centres and training courses. Caroline’s Crèches is on the voluntary Ofsted register (URN: EY418100) and her crèches comply with Ofsted requirements, including recommended adult to child ratios. All her staff have either level 2 or level 3 qualifications in early years education and childcare, and paediatric first aid certificates. They also have experience working with diverse cultures, different ages and different levels of ability amongst babies and children.

During the sessions, children will take part in a variety of art and craft activities, with a focus on natural play, taking inspiration from the seasons and the farm. They’ll be singing, storytelling and imaginative play, as well as a safe baby area and enough age appropriate toys to keep everyone happy. Once a session, we’ll take all the children out into the farm for some animal spotting and exploration. And don’t worry about naps – Caroline and her team are used to helping babies and toddlers nap in crèches, usually in the child’s own buggy/pushchair.

Child registration

You’ll need to complete a registration form [download Word doc] for each of your children in the crèche and email it to us at hello@wecaboodle.org.uk by 11am on the Friday before the session. This form only needs to be completed once for each child.

Due to Ofsted requirements for the pop-ups, we are unable to offer more than four hours of childcare each day, although we hope to provide more in the future. Parents and carers will also need to stay on site while your child is in our care, so that means you can’t leave the farm. If you have meetings, you could arrange them in the newly extended café. If you have any urgent errands you could leave the farm with your child over lunch, but we encourage you to join the networking lunch and become part of Caboodle’s growing community.

Your child will be covered by Caboodle Policies whilst under our care.

Facilities

Windmill Hill City Farm is the perfect place to have a breath of fresh air while getting your head down to some serious work.

The coworking space will have a variety of work areas – group desks, individual desks and a screened off area for quieter phone calls. There’s a kitchen and plenty of natural light and we’ll provide a selection of teas, proper filter coffee from a local roaster, cordials, fruit and healthy snack bars.

We’d recommend walking to the farm if you can – you can leave buggies safely in the John James Room or at the farm reception. The farm is about 15 minutes walk from Temple Meads railway station or from the centre of Bristol. The closest bus stops are on Bedminster Parade (numbers 52, 75, 76, 90, 121, 510, 511, 672). If you need to drive, you can park in Bedminster NCT Car Park on Dalby Avenue, BS3 4HH. It’s a very short walk from the farm’s rear entrance near Clarke Street. Follow the path at the back of the car park to reach the farm gate. The car park costs £6 for all day (£3.20 all day early bird ticket if you arrive before 10am).

There’s disabled access to both the John James crèche room and the Training Room, with wide doors and a lift up to the Training Room if you need it. Blue badge holders can park for free on Philip Street, alongside the Farm. Please let us know if we can help with any special access requirements.

Caboodle is a Community Interest Company which means we exist to benefit parents and their families in Bristol. Any surplus (profit) we make will be reinvested to improve the services we offer and reach families who might not be able to afford to use Caboodle.

Caboodle was set up by three BS3 mums with young children who believe there must be a better way to provide childcare for freelance parents and support each other. We all work on Caboodle as volunteers for the time being, despite having childcare costs ourselves.

We all know that childcare is expensive, and we have to pay for things like insurance, venues, booking and payment fees too. We have made our prices as fair as we can and we hope that the Caboodle pop-ups make sense financially for you.

Cancelling and amending tickets

If you need to cancel your ticket, please let us know by 10am on the Monday before the event to receive a 75% refund. Refunds will be processed by Caboodle within 48 hours, but could take a few days to appear in your bank account.

If you or your child are ill on the day or cannot attend, unfortunately we will not be able to offer a refund. In the interests of the child concerned and the welfare of other children and staff, children who are obviously unwell should not attend the Caboodle crèche. Children with either diarrhoea and/or vomiting will be excluded from the Caboodle crèche for 48 hours from the last issue.

As we’re just starting out we’re only offering tickets for each full four-hour session. You can’t split sessions although we might be able to offer this in the future. Tickets are non-transferrable.
